MICHAEL BEALE has provided an update on Malik Tillman’s transfer talks.
The USA international has returned to Bayern Munich after a fantastic season on loan at Rangers, where he scored 12 and assisted five in 43 appearances.
Malik Tillman was named the PFA’s Young Player of the Year this season[/caption]It was his first season of regular senior football and he certainly delivered, bagging two awards – the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year and Rangers Young Player of the Year gongs.
Rangers have the option to bring him back next season by signing him permanently but they’ll have to fork out around £5million to land him.
And Beale hasn’t ruled out a permanent stay for the midfielder as he revealed the two clubs will be discussing a potential move next week.
He explained: “I spoke to Malik afterwards. The conversation between the two clubs is still ongoing.
“I think there is a called planned for after the weekend between the two [clubs].
“But it was nice to see Malik at the weekend obviously winning another award for fine contributions made this season.”
After collecting his PFA award, Tillman stated he would take his time to consider his future.
He said: “I’ve spoken to Michael Beale already and he said, ‘Just take your time. It’s your decision’. That’s what I’m going to do.
“The option is until the beginning of June or something so I still have three or four weeks to decide. I’m going to take my time because obviously it’s a big decision for me.
“It is still open. I am going to talk to Michael Beale in the coming days and see what he is saying and what the club is saying. Then I am going to speak to Bayern again and see what their plan is for me. And then I am going to decide.”
Meanwhile, Beale has warned his players that more could be heading for the exit door in the summer after it was confirmed today that Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander will all be departing at the end of the season.
The manager said: “It is an exciting time for the club and supporters. We will have some exciting new players coming into the building.
“There is a few players in the squad I will have conversations with about their future and playing time for next season.
“We want to reduce the number of players in the squad and energise with age and energy. It is a fantastic club to come sign for, we want the full squad to feel close to playing.”
